Back Pack Safety

Vermont Sports Medicine Center promotes healthy habits and wellness for developing children. The size and weight of back packs carried by today’s youth have created a national epidemic of musculoskeletal injuries in pre teen and teenage children, which have been directly attributed to issues pertaining to the type, size and weight of back packs at school.

Vermont Sports Medicine center provides an informative educational program for school and civic groups in order to enhance the awareness of teachers, parents and children regarding the risks of injury associated with the inappropriate use of back packs. Concepts around proper body mechanics, risk factors, and methods to reduce the risk of injury from heavy loads in back packs are introduced.
